The Science Design Leadership & Academic Programs (SDLAP) team focuses on building, cultivating, and retaining niche talent groups that are of strategic importance to Amazon. The Academic Onboarding Specialist (AOBS) role is a growing role on the Candidate Experience Operations team supporting Academic Hiring programs at Amazon. This new role is responsible for the successful and customer-centric onboarding of SDLAP-hired academics across Amazon, including for both Amazon Scholars and the newly-launched Amazon Visiting Academics (AVAs) programs. This role gets to interact with world-renowned academics, business and science leaders, HR partners, and recruiting partners. This role is not only responsible for onboarding, but it is also dedicated to the lifecycle management of Scholars, including time commitment and associated compensation transitions. The successful will join this small, central team to augment and innovate on our onboarding processes globally.


Role Responsibilities and Deliverables may include:
· Ensure a successful Day 1 for each Academic candidates, including onboarding all SDLAP Academic hires and consultants
· Subject Matter Expert for Academic Hiring Programs onboarding and HR changes
· Manage the HR processes for Academic Hiring Programs, including internal transfers, job transitions, and time and compensation adjustments
· Academic Hiring Programs POC for Global Mobility, Immigration, Relocation, Central HR Tech Teams, Payroll, and HR Services teams
· Manage the offer mechanisms for Academics, including resource and data management
· Measure and report upon the candidate onboarding experience
· Analyze gathered data to create action plans based on feedback
· Manage the MBO relationship for SDLAP
· Document SOPS for onboarding and build international processes for emerging geographies
· Create and aggregate existing new hire resources that support Academic onboarding, including developing new resources for more effective onboarding


This position can be based at Amazon corporate offices in the following locations; San Francisco, CA / Sunnyvale, CA / Los Angeles, CA / Austin, TX / Nashville, TN / Chicago, IL / Arlington, VA / Boston, MA / New York, NY.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor€™s Degree
· 3+ years of work experience in a candidate or customer-facing role
· 2+ years of work experience of operating in a complex, international, fast paced environment, where customer experience is paramount and juggling conflicting demands against tight deadlines is the norm
· 2+ years of project management, coordination, or HR/Recruiting experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Exposure to Oracle financial systems
· Experience with HRIS systems Demonstrate excellent judgment, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information and high profile candidates
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Highly conversant with Excel, Outlook, Word; exposure to database management is preferred
· Ability to multitask, prioritize and complete a high volume of tasks and projects autonomously
· Proven track record of diagnosing and solving complex problems in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment; understand when to take ownership of a decision and when to involve other parties or escalate
· Excellent judgment, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with high profile executives inside or outside the company, and confidential information
· Ability to make informed and timely decisions; understand when to take ownership of a decision and when to involve other parties
· Reacts with appropriate levels of urgency and tenacity to situations that require quick response or turnaround
· Thinks ahead and troubleshoots; removes obstacles before they become problems
· Impeccable attention to detail and problem solving skills
· Remains focused and calm under pressure
· Familiarity with visa/immigration processes
· Experience with HRIS systems Demonstrate excellent judgment, discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information and high profile candidates
